MINING IN TURKEY

MINING IN TURKEY

Turkey ranks tenth in the world in mineral wealth, and it also has mining potentials. The Turkish government is working to exploit to revitalize this field.
The government recently announced that it will set a maximum level of use of the country’s natural resources and focus on mine processing to add value to the economy in comparison to ore exporting. Turkey plans to increase the national export volume up to USD500 billion and the mineral sector aims to reach USD15 billion of the exports share by 2023.
The government particularly encourages foreign investment in the mining sector, as is evidenced by the comprehensive incentive policy. In an effort to decrease the dependency on energy, Turkey aims to revive electricity generation through lignite and coal fired power plants. This resulted in new lignite/coal fired power plant development plans and the rehabilitation of formerly state-owned, old power plants through post-privatization investment undertakings on the new private owners.

Iron & Manganese Mines

The first mine is in Turkey which produces Manganese, it is located in Kankaya near Ankara with an area of 1554 Hectare,
The monthly production of Manganese is about 15,000 MT with concentrations of 36%.
The other mine is in Turkey, which produces Iron, also it is located at the same area in Kankaya near Ankara with an area of 2000 Hectare.
The monthly production of Iron is about 20,000 MT with concentrations of (56-58) %.
